WHATS BEEN HAPPENING AT

GLENNY WOOD IN 2020??

As we all know Glenny Wood has been closed for much of the year due to the COVID-19 epidemic that has swept the world.


So, during this time our small group of volunteers have spent many, many hours on site and developing revised strategies so we can start too re-open again. Much of the time earlier in the year have worked in separate family groups to meeting the Government advice. In the summer and on we have been able to meet up more as a small team, socially distanced and maintaining the Governments rules.

 

What’s happened?

  • Skills for life - this is a set of activities and information is ready. These leaders can access to use in and around Glenny Wood, so improving the Young people’s knowledge and skills. It’s all laid on a plate for the leader to deliver.
  • The wood from the trees we had felled has been collected and stored
  • We have painted / treated
    • All the sheds
    • Fencing
    • Decking
    • Main Campfire seating
    • Aerial Runway platform, railings etc.
    • Adult loos panels
  • Cut the grass, so many times
    • Tractor cutting
    • Hand mowing
  • Strimmed the banks, around the plateaus and stream.
  • Electrics – professional electricians in to
    • Install additional hand dryers
    • Update the lighting in the showers
    • Undertake the electrical inspection
    • other works
  • Boiler has been serviced by our plumber
  • Fire Extinguishers annual check completed by Chubb Fire and Security Ltd
  • Cleaners employed to raise the cleanliness standards
  • Hedge and Plateau slopes cut by Tom and his large tractor
  • Covid-19 Risk Assessment and policy created and approved
  • This website significantly amended.
  • Covid-19 safe signs, developed, laminated and put up.
  • Covid-19 safe changes made to loos
  • Squirrel trail put up
  • Logs storage area revampted
  • Site Inspection programme redesigned, and inspections undertaken
  • Further tree planting to meet planning permission requirements
  • New tree protection put up around our new plants
  • New waste management system installed
  • General maintenance work on site
