Gordano District Badge

Below is the explanation for the design of the Gordano District Badge when the District commenced in the 1950s...

Gordano District is situated 7 miles west of the City of Bristol in the county of Avon (now North Somerset)

The triangle at the centre of the badge depicts the wedge shape of the Gordano Valley. The blue colour represents the Bristol Channel and the green, with three sheaves of corn, indicates the agricultural interest.

The role surrounding the triangle is for the many shipping connections in the area

Finally, the red background reminds us of our past connections with the county of Somerset.

Congratulations to

Steve Hamey, for his 30 Year Long Service Award

Steve has held a number of roles in Scouting during his 30 years, being a Cub Leader, Scout Leader and Group Scout Leader at 1st Nailsea Scout Group

Steve until recently has been Co District Commissioner for Gordano Scouts. Upon retiring from this role Steve continues as a Trustee and is supporting our new 3 Lead District Volunteers.

Steve on the right is pictured here receiving his award from former Co DC Tony Tween.

Many congratulations Steve.
