GLENNY WOOD ADAPTING TO THE IMPACT OF COVID 19

Latest situation

GLENNY WOOD CAMP SITE IS CLOSED

This will be the case until the current restrictions are lifted and the Scout Association confirm we can reopen. Emergency Services training will continue.

Glenny Wood has been open and its great to see some of our local groups using the site. We look forward to welcome everyone back to Glenny Wood once we are able.

In the meantime and due to current restrictions site bookings for daytime, evening or residential will now be taken

from April 2021 onwards. Click to book >>>>

Please remember our site fees remain unchanged for the 2021 season.

A lot of work has been undertaken to ensure the site is OPEN again and has been adapted to take into account the special measures required due to COVID-19.

In reviewing our site the overriding priority, as always, is to ensure the safety of all those using Glenny Wood for Scouting and other activities and that of our small team who manage the site.

So, what changes have been made for the Safety of those using Glenny Wood?

  • Glenny Wood Covid-19 Risk Assessment has been undertaken and written down. This has been signed off by our Trustees and Avon Scouts - The risks identified and mitigating factors are included in the documents

  • Glenny Wood Covid-19 Policy has been produced and signed off by our Trustees - All the changes are included within the policy document

  • BOTH THESE DOCUMENTS ARE IN LINE WITH SCOUT ASSOCIATION'S ADVICE TO MEMBERS.

  • The numbers using Glenny Wood at any one time has had to be reduced.

  • 45 minutes between the bookings will be scheduled to give the Adults time to complete the critical cleaning of the areas used and be off site before the next group arrives.

  • Hand Sanitizer available to use

  • Toilet facilities have been reduced as well to allow for Social Distancing to be maintained

  • Each section / unit using Glenny Wood will be expected to clean the loos they have used as per the RA.

Once completed please enter this action has been completed on the clip board with the cleaning kit

  • Professional Cleaners employeed to help raise the standards.

  • QR code - I have added a QR code sheet from the Government track and trace system, which you may wish to use to show you have been at Glenny Wood. All members of your party, who are 16 years of age and over, with the app on their phones are welcome to use the code and please encourage this to take place. The risk assessment requirement of notification still remains.

  • Activities limited to Fire Lighting / Backwoods Cooking etc... Skills for life, plus our new Squirrel Trail

  • Bookable activities closed and we have also had to take the Confidence Course and Log Walk out of use

All the changes along with risks identified and mitigating factors are included in our

Glenny Wood Covid-19 Policy and Risk Assessment.

Please read these two documents prior to making a booking.

Please brief all your adults, parents and Young People when going to Glenny, so everyone is aware of the changes. Communicating this information is key, as to make the site safer, in these difficult times,

has meant many changes and making people aware is essential.

Thank you, for your cooperation with this.
