Latest situation

A lot of work has been undertaken to ensure the site is OPEN again and has been adapted to take into account the special measures required due to COVID-19.

In reviewing our site the overriding priority, as always, is to ensure the safety of all those using Glenny Wood for Scouting and other activities and that of our small team who manage the site.

So, what changes have been made for the Safety of those using Glenny Wood?

  • Glenny Wood Covid-19 Risk Assessment has been undertaken and written down. This has been updated to reflect the recent rules changes >>>>

  • The Government have confirmed that residential activities can take place from Monday 21 June with up to 30 young people present. Leaders and carers are permitted to take part in addition to this number, but numbers must be reasonable enough to deliver the experience safely. However, group sizes will remain at six for nights away events involving Scout Network members or adult only groups.

  • Groups using Glenny Wood including residentials must follow the Scout Association readiness for England – Link >>>> and the guidance for Planning COVID-safe nights away – link - >>>>

  • Similar guidelines must be available for other youth organisations to enable residential experiences at Glenny Wood.

  • A gap between the bookings will be scheduled to give the Adults time to complete the critical cleaning of the areas used and be off site before the next group arrives.

  • Hand Sanitizer available to use

  • Toilet facilities have been reduced as well to allow for Social Distancing to be maintained

  • Each section / unit using Glenny Wood will be expected to clean the loos they have used as per the RA.

Once completed please enter this action has been completed on the clip board with the cleaning kit

  • QR code - I have added a QR code sheet from the Government track and trace system, which you may wish to use to show you have been at Glenny Wood. All members of your party, who are 16 years of age and over, with the app on their phones are welcome to use the code and please encourage this to take place. The risk assessment requirement of notification still remains.

  • Residential experiences and Activities now available - see Risk Assessment and your own Organisations rules

All the changes along with risks identified and mitigating factors are included in Glenny Wood Risk Assessment.

Please read this documents prior to making a booking.

Please brief all your adults, parents and Young People when going to Glenny, so everyone is aware of the changes. Communicating this information is key, as to make the site safer, in these difficult times,

has meant many changes and making people aware is essential.

Thank you, for your cooperation with this.
